Q. What is PayRates?

A.  PayRates is an online service provided by Gosmartvalue that allows property owners to check their property rates balance and pay their property taxes online, ensuring a seamless and efficient rates management process.

Q. Which cities are currently using PayRates?

A. PayRates is currently used by the cities of Gaborone and Francistown for property rates collection, with plans to expand to other towns in 2025.

Q. How can I check my property rates balance online?

A. To check your property rates balance, log in to your PayRates account, enter your property details, and view your outstanding balance under the “My Properties” section.

Q. What payment methods are accepted through PayRates?

A. PayRates accepts multiple payment methods, including credit cards, debit cards, and mobile payment platforms. The available options depend on your location.

Q. Is PayRates available for all towns?

Currently, PayRates is available in Gaborone and Francistown. There are plans to roll out the service to other towns in the coming year.

Q. How secure is the PayRates platform?

A.PayRates employs advanced encryption and security protocols to protect user data and ensure safe transactions. We prioritize the security of all sensitive information on the platform.

Q:What does it mean when the page is blank?

A:Check your internet connection and try again

Q:I clicked the 'Click Here to Start' link and it showed a Sign Up page. What should I do?

A:Please choose 'Standard user', fill in your details and choose a password

Q:I signed up but can't remember my password
A:Click 'Forgot password' on the login page and provide the required information to retrieve your password

Q:I filled my plot number and clicked Next, but it says 'No records found'
A:You must provide all three information - Plot number, Location and Locality

Q:Can I pay for more than one property?
A:Yes. Click 'Add Multiple Property' to search and add other properties

Q:I have seen all the bills for my properties but I want to pay for one at the moment
A:Select the bill you are ready to pay by clicking the checkbox  in front of that bill, and click 'Pay Amount'

Q:Can I make part payment of my bill?
A:No. Currently you have to pay the full amount on a bill

Q:I am the owner of the property. Do I have to fill my details a second time before I pay?
A:No. Simply fill the first section of the form and select the 'Is Payer Owner' checkbox 

Q:I searched for my property but it says 'Item is in another basket'. What does this mean?
A:It means that property is in your cart. You cannot add a property twice to your cart.
